The Journal has a wide range of positions for SIS graduate students who are looking to get involved within the SIS and international relations community while providing an opportunity for graduate students to polish their writing and editing skills. Opportunities for remote participation are available.

Application Requirements:
- Please include a Statement of Intent (no longer than one page). You may write about whatever you choose. Prior applications have included motivations for applying, relevant skills, your professional background, or a vision for the position(s) you are interested in.
- Please include a copy of your most recent Resume, be sure to only include information that you think is relevant to the position(s) you are interested in. Indicate your SIS graduate program and expected graduation semester/year.
- Please apply only if you are a graduate student at the American University School of International Service.
- For Editor Positions – Please provide a sample of your own high-level academic writing, preferably in the area of international relations. Samples should be 3-5 pages in length.
- For the Outreach Director – Please provide 1-2 graphic design work samples (.png, .jpeg, .pdf).

Open Positions
- Junior Editors (5 hours per week): Review and critique via the peer review process to refine submissions for publication. Junior Editors will:
- Perform a preliminary review of submitted articles to advance to the Journal editing cycle;
- Provide copy editing assistance during initial stages of editing;
- Provide comments and suggested edits to authors to refine their submission for publication.
- Senior Editors (5-8 hours per week): Review and critique via the peer review process to refine submissions for publication. Senior Editors will:
- Perform a preliminary review of submitted articles to advance to the Journal editing cycle;
- Manage and provide guidance to a small team of Junior Editors during initial stages of peer review;
- Provide comments and suggested edits to authors to refine their submission for publication.
- Associate Editors (8-10 hours per week): Assist the Editor in Chief and Managing Editor in conducting the Journal editing process. Associate Editors will:
- Perform a preliminary review of submitted articles to advance to the Journal editing cycle;
- Manage a set of articles during the editing cycle, refining submissions for publication;
- Serve as a member of the Editorial Board and as a point of contact between Editors and authors during subsequent rounds of editing.
- Outreach Director (8-10 hours per week): Manages all social media and outreach for the Journal. The Outreach Director will:
- Edit and manage our website content to ensure our publications and webpage are consistent with our rigorous editorial standards.
- Enhance the Journal’s presence on LinkedIn and Instagram by regularly publishing content that drives high engagement.
- Collaborate closely with other organizations on campus to amplify the Journal’s publications and initiatives to increase our reach and impact within the academic and international relations communities.
- Support the Operations Director, and serve as a member of the Editorial Board, assisting with wider Journal needs and stepping in to manage additional responsibilities as required.
Note: Experience with social media and graphic design is highly preferred for this position.

- Excellent time management skills and ability to complete work independently according to deadlines.
- A passion for international relations and bringing people together to foster engaging and high-quality academic discourse on current issues.
